Different Methods of Meditation Dealing with Religion
from:Many people agree that meditation is a mental method; the main goal of people and the different religions will vary.
With this article, we will talk about the differences of major religions and how they will view their practice of meditation.
1. Hinduism
This religion is one of the oldest that deals with meditation. There are different types of meditation in Hinduism and they will usually focus on having a calmer state of mind.
2. Buddhism
Buddha founded this in 500 B.C. and the religious take on meditation was to enlighten people like the founder.
3. Christianity
This religion treats meditation like praying. The practice like praying the rosary can be thought of as meditation in the Christian lifestyle.
Another type of meditation done by Christian is by thinking about certain religious passages. This is going to have differences to Eastern religions since Christian meditation means active minds while it is the complete opposite for Eastern practices.
4. Judaism
This is referred to as a Jewish meditation form and revolves around practices like contemplation, visual, analysis, and gaining insight.
5. Taoism
Most religions that use meditation remain still but Taoism takes it to a more physically active level. It is more evident in the practice of Tai Chi where practitioners do meditation in motion.
There are differences with all religious forms and what they think about meditation. A common ground for them is what keeps it all together and how they treat their mental methods.
